Digital Health ID Card Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission on September 27, which he said “has the potential of bringing a revolutionary change in India’s health facilities. Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission had been announced by the Prime Minister from the ramparts of Red Fort on August 15 last year. Currently, the programme is being implemented in the pilot phase in six union territories. Now, the people must be aware of certain points regarding the digital health ID and also the process of signing up for the digital health ID.
According to the official website of National Health Authority, using a Health ID is the first step towards creating safer and efficient digital health records for a person and his or her family. One can opt-in to create a digitally secure Health I’D, which allows the person to access and share the health data with his or her consent, with participating healthcare providers and payers.
One must note that anyone who wishes to participate in ABDM and have their health records available digitally must start by creating a Health I’D. Health I’D is a randomly generated 14 digit number used for the purposes of uniquely identifying persons, authenticating them, and threading their health records (only with their informed consent) across multiple systems and stakeholders.
As far as the details are concerned, this new digital health I’D will contain various details pertaining to a person, which includes details of every test, every disease, doctors’ visits, diagnosis, and medicines taken. It will also help doctors to know about a patient’s history before treating them.
Furthermore, the Health I’D will use a person’s mobile number or Aadhaar card number and all the health records will be viewable with the help of a mobile app, a Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR), and Healthcare Facilities Registries.

The NHA has launched the NDHM Sandbox: a digital architecture that allows helps private players to be part of the National Digital Health Ecosystem as health information providers or health information users.
The private player sends a request to NHA to test its system with the Sandbox environment. The NHA then gives the private player a key to access the Sandbox environment and the health ID application programming interface (API). The private player then has to create a Sandbox health ID, integrate its software with the API; and register the software to test link records and process health data consent requests. Once the system is tested, the system will ask for a demo to the NHA to move forward. After a successful demo, the NHA certifies and empanels the private hospital.
